Modern martial art study embraces several aspects of human development. These can be categorized at Trent Taekwondo as fitness, self-defense, and self-confidence with a competitive aspect also available. The club welcomes both students who are new to martial arts as well as those with previous experience. Students can retain their uniform and rank from their home clubs.
Trent Taekwondo functions in a fairly traditional manner. As such belt testing is held at the end of each semester as an optional opportunity to students. One of the club’s main goals is to produce skilled World Taekwondo Federation black belts in the time taken to complete undergrad, master and doctorate degrees.
One of the prime goals of training is to increase the fitness levels of all students. This is done through classes designed to increase strength and cardiovascular levels of all involved. Like almost any other pursuit those involved get out of the experience what they put in to it. The classes are designed that participants can expect an increase in cardiovascular capacity, physical strength, flexibility and mobility while learning the traditional martial art of Taekwondo.
The instructional staff at Trent Taekwondo has backgrounds in the wider fitness industry possessing qualifications with Can-Fit-Pro, Canadian Fitness Kickboxing Inc, Resist-A-Ball and the Yoga Alliance in addition to their martial art skills.
